Waterbending Amy

What do we have here? Well, this is my birthday present to my wonderful friend . It was her birthday a few weeks ago, and I offered to draw her anything she wanted as a present. Eventually, she decided upon seeing herself drawn as a waterbender in the "Avatar: The Last Airbender" universe. This is the result of my efforts. It took a little longer than it normally would for me to draw something since I was doing it intermittently with an "Alone in a Crowd" strip. In the end, I think she looks more like a Katara cosplayer than another member of the water tribes, but I just couldn't resist giving her some hair loopies. I love those things.

Since Amy's a close friend of mine and we have A LOT of history between us, I wanted to do something more advanced than the last gift art I did for here (see here: [link]). I definitely like this one a whole lot more than the older one. It feels more dynamic and artistic. I was trying to do some real shading work, which isn't something I usually do. I think the results are mixed. Better than what I've done in the past, but I still need practice. Plus, I don't think I pulled off the effect on the water. Water can be really hard to color. I tried mixing the blue with itself and some white colored pencil for this, which work I guess, but I'm not sure how well.
